Dr. Rachel Bervell is passionate about community engagement and population health, firmly believing that equipping others with the tools they need to thrive wellbeing influences not only individuals but entire communities. Through her leadership, she breaks down barriers in health systems and empowers underserved patients to take ownership of their wellbeing.
The proud daughter of Ghanaian immigrants, Rachel grew up in the Greater Seattle area. She attended Harvard University, concentrating in Social & Cognitive Neuroscience and earning a secondary degree in Health Policy & Global Health. Before medical school, she pursued studies at Georgetown University, where she honed her interest in healthcare delivery and disparities research. Rachel earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, where she partnered with patients during their most vulnerable moments and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for exemplifying compassionate care. She also holds an MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, graduating as part of the Delta Omega Honor Society.
She has an entrepreneurial spirit as the founder of multiple initiatives, has worked on quality improvement projects domestically & abroad, serves on national advisory councils, loves to mentor minority students, and leverages social media to creatively educate thousands on health topics. Currently completing her psychiatry residency after transitioning from ObGyn, Rachel focuses her clinical and advocacy work on reproductive and mental health, particularly for underserved populations—areas often overlooked despite their profound impact on communities.
When not immersed in professional endeavors, Rachel can be found tending to her plants, mothering her mini goldendoodle, being a foodie, and exploring new places with her loved ones.
